A 100 yeras old pressure pipe in a residential area, much traffic, old trees – a case for a trenchless renovation method.

The sewer network officials at the City of Magdeburg had faced a particular challenge: a 600-meter-long free-flow pressure pipeline, the only discharge option to the main pumping station in the area, was badly corroded. It is connected to one of the largest pumping stations in the city of 240,000 inhabitants. A busy crossroad is located above the pressure pipe end chamber. In addition, there is an old stand of trees in the immediate vicinity. The chosen solution: swagelining, a method of rehabilitation using prefabricated PE pipes. RSV members involved: Frisch & Faust and the camera and robot specialist IBAK.
