english Record attendance at RSV webinar about asbestos cement

With 120 participants, the webinar about asbestos cement pipes was the RSV's most well-attended event so far.

It was an hour and a half of packed expertise: this week's webinar on asbestos cement ducts attracted interested parties from all over Germany. Employees from local authorities, engineering offices and trade supervisory authorities as well as RSV companies accepted the RSV's invitation. There was not only an update on the status of the recognition of the low-emission procedure for curing on site cured-in-place pipes (unfortunately we are still waiting for the publication of the BT procedure...), but also tangible tips on filling out the forms for the company-related notification to the trade inspectorate.

Daniel Korczinski, Site Manager Erlangen at the engineering firm ISAS, was responsible for the technical support of the application on behalf of the RSV. He guided the online guests through the process description and provided valuable tips for upcoming sewer rehabilitation projects.

The most important information from the webinar at a glance

  • The RSV has applied for the procedure cured-in-place pipe lining to be a "recognised low-emission procedure in accordance with TRGS 519". The decision for recognition has already been made by the decisive working group of the Institute for the Protection of Labour (IFA) of the DGUV
  • Listing as a BT procedure on the website of the German statutory accident insurance is expected shortly
  • Even if the BT procedure is not yet listed on the website of the Institute for the Protection of Labour, it can be tendered and applied (there is the possibility of official recognition for this).
  • An overview with addresses of the responsible trade supervisory authorities in Germany is available on the BAUA website.

Many questions also centred on the topic of pressure pipes. As a low-emission procedure, the company PrimusLine has already submitted the measurement results required by DGUV Information 201-012 to the IFA. Other RSV member companies are also involved in the field of pressurised pipe rehabilitation.

Asbestos-cement pipes inside buildings were also a topic. The RSV has issued a recommendation for action in this regard, which provides information on safety-related applications.

In principle, procedures can be used that meet the requirements of occupational health and safety law and the process descriptions of already recognised low-emission procedures. However, this must always be done in consultation with the relevant labour inspectorate. If, for example, downpipes have to be renovated, the corresponding sealing measures must be taken during the work.

"Without exception, we received positive feedback on the webinar," summarised RSV Managing Director Reinhild Haacker.
